Seashore chit fund scam: CBI grills people having link with Pravat Biswal

Bhubaneswar: Some people today deposed before the CBI here today and kept their side in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam in Seashore Group of Companies while some of them having link with Cuttack-Choudwar BJD MLA Pravat Biswal were grilled by the Central investigating agency.

Among those were three contractors who were grilled by the CBI officials.

Talking to media persons after coming out of the CBI office, the three contractors—Arabinda Jena, Gouranga Patra and Asit Malia—said they had given a loan of Rs 1 lakh each to Laxmi Bilasini Biswal, wife of Pravat Biswal in 2012.

“The CBI officials had asked us about our financial transaction with Biswal’s wife and in reply we said she had taken the loan from us saying she has urgent need for money,” said the three contractors.

Notably, the CBI had come to know about the link of some persons including these three contractors during a raid on the house of Pravat Biswal in Choudwar recently.
