Cuttack: Four days after serving notice to five BJD corporators, the police today asked four Congress members to appear at the Purighat Police station here in connection with the violence at a meeting of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) recently.

Congress' Giribala Behera, Anita Nayak, Arun Sethy and Sheikh Shamim have been served the notice under section 41 of CrPC and were asked to depose before police by August 20.

On August 9, five BJD corporators were served a similar notice in the case. They are Ranjan Khan, Bikash Behera, Anil Niladri, Itishree Behera and Dayanidhi Nayak .

Protesting the failure of the State Government in checking the outbreak of dengue in the city, some Congress corporators had staged a dharna at the meeting by putting up a mosquito net at the CMC Council meeting and sitting inside it on July 29. Trouble erupted when some BJD corporators objected to this weird form of protest and got involved in a verbal duel with their Congress counterparts.

A battle of words ensued between corporators of both the parties, and in no time things turned ugly as corporators of both parties started pushing and manhandling each other. Some even thrashed each other in a fit of rage.
