Bhubaneswar: The State government is considering to provide shoes to school students free of cost acting on a directive issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

Sources said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to make an announcement on distribution of shoes to school students on the Children’s Day on November 14.
NCPCR chairperson Stuti Kacker earlier suggested the State’s Chief Secretary AP Padhi to include shoes while distributing school uniform under the Rights to Education Act 2009.

Later the School and Mass Education department wrote to project director of the Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) to inform it about the feasibility on the plan’s implementation.
