School girl raped by headmaster in Daringbadi

Phulbani: A minor school girl who had earlier levelled charges of molestation by her school headmaster, on Monday filed a new police complaint alleging that she was raped.

The matter came to the fore after the survivor, who was raped in a residential school near Daringbandi area of Kandhamal district, disclosed the ordeal before her sister about a month after the incident.

According to reports, the accused headmaster asked the minor girl to accompany him to his office and raped her there. Ashamed and scared about the outcomes, the girl did not inform her family about the incident.

Upon returning home for the vacations, the girl mustered the courage to share that she was 'molested' by the headmaster following which family members of the girl lodged a complaint, sources said.

Subsequently, the girl narrated the incident before her sister after which a complaint of rape was lodged at Daringbadi police station yesterday.

"Sir called me to the office and started touching me inappropriately. He also threatened me of dire consequence if I revealed the matter. I want stringent action against him," informed the girl.

"The minor girl informed that she was not molested rather raped. Based on her new statement, we are investigating the case and the accused will be arrested soon," said Kandhamal SP Pratik Singh.

"The girl will be provided admission in another school and we will also request the district administration to take steps for rehabilitation of the victim," added Singh.
