Cuttack: The Mangalabag police conducting its probe into the harassment complaint filed by a 4th year MBBS student of SCB Medical College and Hospital, will record statements of the four accused against whom cases have been registered, informed Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora.

“A case has been registered at the Mangalabag Police Station and statements of the victim and her friends recorded. The students who are involved will be served notices and further investigation will be carried on,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora.

Meanwhile, the principal of the college convened a general body meeting in connection with the harassment allegations today. Professors of various departments of the college, administrative officials, students and the girl student who lodged the complaint were present in the meeting.

According to sources, discussions were held to settle the matter amicably through mutual understanding and the 4 accused students & victim gave written assurance to general body meeting to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

As a part of the investigation, the Commissionerate police on Friday had registered case against four students of SCB Medical College and Hospital here in connection with the harassment case of a girl student.

Police had also recorded the statement of the victim under Sec 161 at an unknown location.

On the other hand, the administrative officer of the college, Pratap Mishra, yesterday informed that a decision to settle the matter amicably was taken at the internal disciplinary committee meeting of the institution. According to the official, both parties along with the parents of the girl student who lodged a police complaint were present at the meeting and presented their case.
