SCB Haematology professor under Vigilance scanner

Cuttack: Vigilance officials today raided office and houses of SCB Medical College and Hospital Haematology professor Rabindra Jena and traced his movable and immovable property worth Rs 3.23 crore.

Five buildings, five plots with houses, a life insurance deposit of more than Rs 8 lakh and bank deposits of more than Rs 73 lakh in the name of Jena were traced.

The anti-corruption wing conducted the raid simultaneously at 12 places, including SCB Haematology unit office and Jena’s quarter on the SCB Medical College campus, his houses in CDA, Mahanadi Vihar and Mangalabag in Cuttack, a diagnostic centre in Ranihat and paternal house in Bijayanagar under Mahakalapada in Kendrapara district.

Acting on a few evidences against the doctor, the Vigilance officials began the search operation at around 5.30 in the morning. The exact amount of the disproportionate asset in the name of the doctor is yet to be established.
