Cuttack: In a new twist to the Facebook live controversy at SCB medical college and hospital, the attendant of the five-year-old child who was allegedly not attended to by doctors, on Tuesday lodged an FIR against doctors for misbehaving and making casteist remarks.

In his complaint lodged with Mangalabag police, Ramakant Bhoi has sought protection claiming threat to his life from SCB doctors.

Ramakant was detained by police for going live on Facebook over ‘absence of doctors’ and other medical staff when he had gone to the pediatric casualty of the hospital to seek medical attention for his five-month-old daughter yesterday.

According to reports, Mangalabag police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections- 341, 323, 294, 506, 34 and section of 3 of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

“Had gone to the hospital as a common citizen and done the live as wanted to ensure that no other person suffers due to absence of doctors and lack of treatment at SCB,” said Ramakant.

Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Prabhat Biswal on the other hand claimed that he had personally asked the SCB superintendent to look into the matter after the matter  reached him.

“The matter was also discussed at a high level meeting headed by RDC held today and steps are being taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” said Biswal.

Meanwhile, the SCB authorities today constituted an inquiry committee to look into the entire controversy.

“We have formed a committee and basing on the inquiry report appropriate action would be taken. Already stern action is being taken on doctors who are remaining absent without prior information,” said SCB superintendent Shyama Kanungo.

Kanungo further informed that the hospital has clearly stated that negligence would not be accepted under any circumstances at any level.
