New Delhi: The Supreme Court today quashed the case against the CBI which had wrongly entered the house of a sitting judge of Orissa High Court in September 19 night last year after the probe agency apprised the apex court through an affidavit that it had apologised the Judge for its mistake.

In its affidavit, the central investigating agency stated that its officials had visited the official residence of justice CR Das in connection with a probe after mistaking it as the residence of Justice IM Quddusi who resided there during his tenure as a judge in Orissa High Court. The agency tendered an unconditional apology to Justice Das for wrongful entry.

Quddusi was arrested by the CBI in connection with a scam related to admission in a Lucknow-based medical college and the agency had conducted raids at different places in Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Lucknow.

The wrongful entry of CBI into the judge's house had sparked outrage with Orissa High Court Bar Association registering a case with police. The lawyers had also staged cease-work demanding stringent action against the erring officials.
