Sarpanch arrested on charges of raping minor girl

Kalahandi: Police today arrested a Sarpanch of Kalahandi district for allegedly raping a minor girl at Badachhatranga village under Thuamul Rampur block in the district.

As per the complaint, Sarpanch Hadinga Majhi had physical relationship with the minor, a Dalit, on the pretext of marrying her. However, the accused later refused to marry her.

Later, a complaint was filed against him at the police station, following which the police arrested the Sarpanch.

Investigation into the matter is on. Action would be taken once the inquiry is over, Kalahandi SP said.
