Puri: The district administration on Sunday sealed Samjajpur railway overbridge, which needs urgent repairs, to begin construction works as per the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) directive.

The authorities asked all vehicles to use the level crossing as an alternative for smooth movement.

Besides repairs works of the bridge, the Railways has been told to construct two level crossings.

Works Department secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Odisha chief Dharmananda Sarangi along with Puri Collector Aravind Agrawal and SP Sarthak Sarangi yesterday inspected the bridge.

“The railway level crossings are not in proper condition. The Railways authorities have been told to finish repairing work of the crossings by Saturday evening so that traffic can be diverted from Sunday morning. The overbridge will not be used from Sunday. However, vehicles will be allowed to go over the bridge on June 20 (Snana Yatra) in controlled condition,” Agrawal said yesterday after inspection.
