Sambalpur: Nearly a fortnight after five persons of a family in Sambalpur allegedly committed suicide, the rented house they were staying in was opened by police in presence of magistrate today.

Police is in search of any vital information in the house that will help them solve the case. The operation is being conducted in presence of other family members of the deceased.

Five of a family, identified as Dharanidhar Panda, his wife Sangita Panda and their three daughters, out of which two were identified as Ananya Panda and Aparajita Panda had allegedly committed suicide on  the railway tracks near Sarala Junction in the district on November 7 night.

While the incident had shocked everyone in the State, police is yet to ascertain the reason that forced the family to take such an extreme step.

Even though poverty is suspected to be the reason behind the deaths, police is on the lookout for any other possible reasons behind the incident.
