Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Chairman PK Singh to set up a medical college and hospital in Rourkela.

During a meeting with the SAIL chief at the state secretariat here, the Chief Minister also proposed setting up of a cement industry at Purunapani in Sundargarh district and a skill development training centre at Rourkela.

Rehabilitation and resettlement of families displaced by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and Mandira dam projects and establishment of a sewerage treatment plant at Rourkela also figured during the discussion between the two.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, Singh said SAIL would actively consider the suggestions of the Chief Minister.

Among others, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan were present at the meeting.
