SAI names 5 athletes of Odisha for Asian Athletics meet

Bhubaneswar: The countdown for the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship has begun and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Wednesday announced name of 95-member squad including five athletes from Odisha.

Sprinter Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, Amiya Mallick, Poornima Hembram and Jauna Murmu from Odisha are part of the Indian contingent, the SAI notification mentioned.

Amiya, Srabani and Dutee will participate in 100 m, 200 m sprint event and 4X100 relay, respectively, whereas Jauna Murmu will run in 400 hurdles. Odia girl Poornima Hembram will participate in heptathlon event.

Meanwhile, other athletes of the Indian squad have begun arriving in the city for the sports meet from June 5-9.
