Rajgangpur: Martyred CRPF jawan Pradeep Panda who was killed in a fierce gun battle with militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, was given guard of honour after his body reached Rajgangpur stadium, the native place of the jawan, today.

A massive crowd had gathered to witness the event. The area reverberated with 'Saheed Pradeep Panda, Amar Rahe’ slogans as over 10,000 people gathered at the stadium to pay last respects to the jawan.
Rourkela MLA Dillip Ray, Sundergarh Collector Vineet Bharadwaj, SP Pinak Mishra, CRPF DIG Birendra Sharma and other top police officials also paid floral tributes to the martyr.
Later, the body was taken to his village Liploi where his last rites was performed after a gun salute.

Pradeep’s body was flown from the CRPF centre to New Delhi and then to Bhubaneswar airport yesterday.
Five jawans including Pradeep were killed in a brazen terrorist attack in Lathpora area in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. According to reports, Pradeep was shot dead by terrorists hiding inside the camp.
CRPF, in its twitter account, described Pradeep as a ‘Gallant Gem’ of the force and a ‘legendary expert of face to face gunfight’. He was awarded with Police Medal for Gallantry on Independence Day 2017 for his heroic deeds.
