Bhubaneswar/Khurda: A bag containing Rs 45 lakh cash was looted at gun point from two staff of a toll gate located at Godipada at Jankia near Khurda this afternoon.

The miscreants fled from the spot in a black car towards Berhampur on the National Highway-16 after looting the bag containing cash.

The incident happened when the toll gate manager and supervisor were going towards Jankia in a Santro car to deposit two days' collection worth Rs 45 lakh in a bank.

As per the details provided by the toll gate staff, the miscreants came in a black car and waylaid the Santro car. Suddenly one of the miscreants broke the glass of the Santro car with a sharp weapon while the other pointed a black Mauser at the staff and snatched the cash bag.

The hapless toll gate staff reached the Jankia police station to report the loot from the spot, which is only 500 metres away.

Talking to media persons, Khurda SP Dilip Das, who reached the Jankia police station and questioned the toll gate staff, said, “The investigation is on. We have formed special teams and sent them in different directions to conduct raids,” adding that the complainants are Telugu speaking people.
