Jharsuguda: A bag containing jewellery ornaments worth Rs 42 lakh was snatched away from a Raipur-based jewellery shop staff while travelling in Howrah-Mumbai Mail near Jharsuguda today.

While the jewellery shop staff, identified as Laxminarayan Sharma, was sitting beside the train gate, along with the bag, because his ticket was not confirmed, a miscreant forcibly took the jewellery bag and jumped off the train near Jharsuguda.

Sharma who was travelling from Kolkata to Raipur in the train stated he also jumped off the train in a bid to catch hold of the miscreant. However, he was unsuccessful.

Jharsuguda GRP has initiated a probe based on a complaint lodged by Sharma.
