Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is expecting to spend Rs 30,000 crore for the development of cities in the state in five-seven years, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo on Friday.

Speaking at Smart City seminar at Make In Odisha conclave here, Singhdeo said, “Rs 7,100 crore will be spent on 86 projects in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.”

“While, Rs 4,537crore will be spent on 50 projects in Bhubaneswar, Rs 2,571 crore will be spent on 36 projects in Rourkela under National Smart Cities scheme,” Singhdeo added.

“Besides, 202 projects have been identified where Rs 1,500 crore will be spent under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) yojana,” the minister said, adding that, “The state government has formed seven SPVs to provide bus service in 16 urban areas.”
