Keonjhar: Police today seized five bank accounts belonging to Champua legislator Sanatan Mahakud having cash deposits worth Rs165 crore.

According to sources, the IndusInd Bank accounts of the legislator were frozen after he failed to depose in connection with a recent seizure of Rs 50 lakh cash belonging to him.

Three persons, including a manager of IndusInd Bank, were arrested at Basudebpur for carrying Rs 50 lakh cash to Mahakud’s house. According to sources, the trio had failed to show any paper trail of the cash.

The district police had served notice to the legislator to appear for questioning. However, Mahakud had sought 20 days time citing health reasons.
