Bhubaneswar: Sohini Paul, daughter of arrested Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul, appeared before the CBI here today in connection with the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam.

Sohini appeared before the central investigating agency for the second time. Earlier on Monday, she had appeared before the CBI responding to its notice. Sources said CBI quizzed Sohini on the designation she held at Rose Valley Group and monetary transactions by her during her tenure in the company.

On the other hand, the three-day remand of MP Tapas Paul came to an end today following which the CBI has taken him on remand for another 3 days for the second time after court approval.

During his remand, the actor blamed singer and Union Minister of State Babul Supriyo for his arrest, drawing threats of legal action from the latter. He alleged that the Union Minister of State and some other politicians are involved in the Rose Valley chit fund scam.

It may be mentioned here that Tapas Paul while working as a director at Rose Valley Group had given appointments to his wife, daughter, and niece in different positions. Notably, the Bengali cine star was arrested from Kolkata by the CBI on December 30. He was brought to Bhubaneswar by the CBI on December 31 and produced before the Special CJM CBI court here which granted the investigating agency a 3-day remand of the MP.
