Jharsuguda: Panic gripped this industrial town this afternoon after a youth was shot at by four unidentified miscreants in what appeared to be a case of road rage.

The seriously injured youth, identified as Tulasi Rohidas, was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla.

According to reports, Tulasi and his friend Raja of Sarbahal area were moving on a bike at a high speed along the Jharsuguda by-pass road when four youths on two bikes tried to overtake them. While overtaking, the four youths abused them in obscene language inviting counter abuse by the duo.

Angry at this, two youths suddenly opened fire at Tulasi and Raja. Tulasi sustained three bullet injuries on his head and fell down from the vehicle. Soon after firing, the four youths fled the area. Raja admitted his friend to the district headquarters hospital. But as his condition became critical, he was shifted to VIMSAR.

“We are investigating the case and trying to nab the miscreants,” Jharsuguda SDPO Bijaya Nanda told media persons.
