Road mishaps claim three lives in Odisha

Mayurbhanj/Cuttack: Three persons were killed and three others injured in two separate road accidents in Cuttack and Mayurbhanj district today.

In Mayurbhanj district, two persons died after a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck at Kalama Square under Baisinga police limits. Three others sustained severe injuries and they have been admitted to Baisinga Hospital. The deceased are yet to be identified.

The incident took place when the car carrying all six of them was moving towards Balasore from Baripda.

In another tragic mishap, a young woman died after coming under wheels of a speeding truck at Raghunathpur on Cuttack-Paradip road. The deceased was identified as Rasmita Rout.

Irate locals staged a road blockade demanding adequate compensation for the victim’s family. Later, the road was cleared after administrative officials reached the spot and handed over a cheque of 10,000 from the Red Cross fund as compensation.
