Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday submitted a report on the investigation into the death of engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi to the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).

In the report, the police have mentioned that Rishi died due to intake of excess alcohol and drug overdose. However, the police have claimed that no clues have been obtained from the mobile phone that was sent to Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Kolkata for examination.

The opposition political parties had targeted Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena over Rishi’s death in May 2016 after a controversial video allegedly involving him went viral. However, the police investigation report seems to have given a clean chit to Jena.

Earlier, a petition was filed with the OHRC in connection with the incident, following which the commission had sought a report from the Commissionerate Police.
