RI alleges raw deal by lawyer in Sambalpur; both women lodge FIRs

Sambalpur: Tension prevailed after a lady lawyer allegedly assaulted lady revenue inspector (RI) Gitanjali Panigrahi here on Thursday.

As per Gitanjali’s allegations, the incident occurred when she was returning after attending a meeting at the sub-collectors’ office today.

“She (the lawyer) had applied on behalf of her client for a caste certificate. When I told that her client was not a native of Sambalpur and sent her application to Sonepur Tehsil, she started to misbehave and later attacked me,” said Gitanjali.

The laywer on the other hand has also filed a counter FIR against the RI with Town police station.

“We have received two complaints and we have registered separate cases and investigation has started into the incident,” said Gagarin Mohanty, Sambalpur SDPO.

Mohanty further informed that a detailed investigation will be carried out after reviewing the CCTV footage.
