An official communication from the union shipping ministry in this regard has been received by us. Scrap import activity would be undertaken shortly, an official of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) told this web portal.

Apart from PPT, the major ports owned by the government including Chennai, Ennore, Tuticorin, Kandla, Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Mormugoa, New Mangalore, Cochin, Visakhapatnam, and Kolkata have also been asked by the union ministry to undertake scrap import trade, the PPt official added.
