Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Angul district revenue inspector (RI) Padan Nayak on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe from a person for a land verification report at Paripara village under Nisha police limits in the district.

The RI had demanded Rs 3,000 bribe from one Sonu Barik for sending a land verification report in favour of the latter. Sonu had given him Rs 1400 and expressed his inability to pay the rest amount. However, Nayak refused to give the report and demanded the remaining Rs 1600.

Finding no other option, Barik lodged a complaint with the Balasore Vigilance in this connection, said Sabita Majhi, Vigilance DSP, Angul..

"We caught the RI red handed while receiving RS 1600 from Sonu Barik and arrested him," said the DSP.
