Bhubaneswar: The members of the Odisha Rajaswa Amala Sangha (ORAS), who were protesting by wearing black badges since last two days over their 4-point charter of demands, will cease work from today.

Earlier on Wednesday and Thursday the clerical staff of the revenue department showed up at work wearing black badges. When the demands were not met they threatened to launch a cease work strike.

More than 18,000 employees are working at District Collectors’ and Tehsildars’ offices across the State.

On the other hand Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty has said the demands of the association are legitimate, the department is aware of it and discussion is being held over it. He has requested the ORAS not to launch the cease work strike.

General Secretary of ORAS, Naresh Mohapatra, said, "The government agreed on genuineness of our demands and recommended it but they should fulfill our demands immediately or give us an assurance that it will be fulfilled within a set date. Then we will withdraw our protest."
