Bhubaneswar: The process of reconstitution of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has begun as per the directive of national president Rahul Gandhi, said sources.

As per reports, the working committee will comprise of one president, five vice-presidents, 10 general secretaries and 20 secretaries. Besides, regional coordinators will be appointed by the party in different parts of the State.

“Based on Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s directive, OPCC chief Prasad Harichandan is going to reconstitute the PCC working committee. People from all sections of the society will get representations,” said senior Congress leader Suresh Routray adding that many legislators have already met Prasad and held discussions.

On the other hand, former PCC president Niranjan Patnaik said, “I was criticised for arguing in favour of a smaller committee as too many people in a team would not yield the desired results. Now the PCC is going to implement the same idea. If everyone works in tandem, Congress will be strong in the State.”

Congress legislator Bhujabal Majhi said, “All the districts should get representation in the new PCC committee. We will work with the new committee as per the directive of Rahul Gandhi.”

Meanwhile, talks of rift in Congress are still doing rounds. Recently, Congress legislators passed a resolution expressing their confidence on Opposition leader Narasingha Mishra who has often been seen in the opposite camp of current OPCC chief Prasad.
