Rourkela: In a major revelation, out of the six members of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) arrested by Birmitrapur police on Sunday, one has been identified as a retired Assistant Commandant of Border Security Force (BSF).

The ex-BSF commandant Jadumani Patra was arrested from Barbil in Sundergarh district along with five others late last night for allegedly training PLFI members to take on forces.

The other arrested PLFI members have been identified as Sandeep Ekka, Butru Khadia, Suraj Sahu, Kalu Thakur and Riba Khalko.

As per reports, Patra was in BSF from 1980 to 1985. After retirement, he joined the black-listed group and became its 'master trainer'. Besides, Patra is reportedly the managing director of a private security agency operating in the district.

“He used to impart training at different centres of the group about the use of rifles and other sophisticated weapons,” said Biramitrapur SDPO, Prakash Kumar Patra.

In the last three days, as many as 13 PLFI members have been arrested in the district.
