Resignation is rumour, says Oppn leader

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra came out with a clear stand on Monday after meeting Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi here that he has not resigned from the post.

"I have not tendered my resignation. It is all a rumour", Mishra said after meeting the party's heir apparent at the latter's residence this morning. Mishra said he along with the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) members will stay in the national capital for some more days to meet other AICC leaders over party’s organisational affairs.

"Congress president Sonia Gandhi is not well now. We will meet her after she gets well", Mishra added.

Later the Congress members met Ahmed Patel, political advisor to Sonia Gandhi.

On the intra-party fighting in Odisha Congress, PCC spokesperson Sarat Rout said "It is impossible for someone to remain in party by threatening the high command. The party would not be affected if someone quits".

Reacting on the change of PCC chief, senior leader Hemananda Biswal said this is not the proper time to demand a change in leadership.

Some party legislators had met the Congress scion yesterday and Sonia Gandhi's close aide V Gorge today at his residence. During the meeting, Gorge urged the leaders to work unitedly to make the party stronger in Odisha.

The MLAs had raised the Mahanadi issues during the meeting with Rahul Gandhi yesterday. Though the party affairs were discussed in the meeting, the leaders are tight-lipped over the issues discussed on the sidelines.
