Puri: The repair work of Jagamohan, the hall facing the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Sri Jagannath Temple here, will be carried out after Ram Navami, which will be observed on April 15.

A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired by chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Saturday.

According to sources, at first the four steel pillars inside the Jagamohan will be connected by beams as the pillars of the chamber are in a weakened state and multiple cracks have emerged on the walls.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said, “We have called this meeting to chalk out plans so that all the rituals of the deities could be performed in a timely manner during the repair work of Jagamohan which will be carried out after Ram Navami.”

“As special rituals will be performed inside the Jagamohan on Ram Navami, so the foundation, for the construction of pillars, will be dug out after that day,” Mohapatra added.
