Puri: The scaffolding at Anasara Pindi of Shri Jagannath temple will be removed before the Deba Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath scheduled on June 20.

This was decided at a meeting between the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the Daitapati Nijog last night.

“Since the repair work of the temple is underway, the meeting discussed as to how much of scaffolding to be removed from which area of the Anasara Pindi. It was decided that the temple administration and the Daitapatis will visit the Anasara Griha in a couple of days after which the process for removal of scaffolding would begin,” SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra told media persons.

He also said there will be no repair work till the Lords stay at the Anasara Griha.

About the conduct of the Rath Yatra, he said the Daitapati Nijogs assured the temple administration of cooperation during the Rath Yatra this year.

President of Daitapati Nijog, Ramakrushna Dasmohapatra said considering the alarming situation of the part of temple where the repair work is going on, the Nijog had a proposal for smooth conduct of the Snana Yatra and Rath Yatra. “We discussed with the temple administration the removal of scaffolding from Anasara Pindi where the deities would be placed during Snana Yatra,” he said.

Secretary of the Nijog, Premananda Dasmohapatra said the Daitapatis will conduct this year’s Rath Yatra with the cooperation of the Chhatisha Nijog. “The Daitapatis cannot conduct the mega festival smoothly without the Chhatisha Nijog. The rituals of the Lords, which is being performed smoothly, will be performed during the Rath Yatra,” he claimed.
