Bhubaneswar: The 20th death anniversary of brave son of the soil and former chief minister Biju Patnaik, also known as the architect of modern Odisha, was observed across the state today. Political leaders cutting across party lines and people from all walks of life paid rich tributes to the leader on the occasion.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered floral tributes to the 'leader of the masses' on Assembly premises this morning after paying homage to the statue of Biju Babu in Biju Patnaik park. Addressing mediapersons, he said, “On the 20th death anniversary of Biju Babu, we should remember all the great works he did for Odisha and tremendous sacrifices he made for the state.” Patnaik also visited the Biju Patnaik memorial at Puri to offer his tributes.

Besides, the ruling BJD would take out a procession from all constituencies under the Bhubaneswar organisational district to the party headquarters here. Later, the procession would be taken to Puri Swargadwara.

The party has also decided to organise meetings in all gram panchayats, blocks and district headquarters in his memory.
