Balasore: Even as the section 144 has stayed in force in Soro town in the district, which witnessed unrest following a group clash during immersion festival, remaining idols of lord Ganesh were immersed today amid tight security in a low profile manner.

The peace committee on Tuesday decided to conduct the immersion in a low key manner as the prohibitory order is in force. The administration has relaxed the prhibitory orders between 8am and 2 pm during which the immersion took place.

The town witnessed unrest after two communities indulged in brick-batting during the immersion procession of Lord Ganesh on August 9. Around seven people were injured in the clash. Some of the idols could not be immersed due to such unpleasant situation.

As the situation spiralling, district administration imposed section 144 under CrPC, which has remained in force for last three days. Later, the administration imposed curfew during night after some miscreants torched some shops and fresh violence was reported.
