Bhubaneswar: The 22nd Refining and Petrochemicals Technology Meet got underway here today with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurating the event.

The three-day meet has been organised by the Centre for High Technology of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in association with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).

Addressing the event, Minister Pradhan said, "Most of our private oil refining companies are already supplying their products to South America, thereby creating an enormous refinery in the country."

"The convention that is aimed at taking up clear strategies for 2040 will fulfil our responsibilities with a modern approach," he added.

Around 900 oil industry professionals from India and about 100 foreign delegates from 44 global companies are participating in the event. The theme of the meet is ‘Emerging trends in downstream hydrocarbon sector’.
