Cuttack: In more trouble for Assistant Professor Alekh Sutar, the Gender Sensitisation Committee of Ravenshaw University has indicted him in the alleged sexual harassment case, official sources said.

The Committee submitted its interim report to the vice-chancellor PC Sarangi in connection with the incident here on Friday.

Basing on the findings of the committee, the assistant professor’s suspension will remain in force while necessary action would be taken based on the existing varsity statute, said Sarangi.

Varsity officials further claimed that apart from the gender sensitisation committee, the disciplinary committee is also investigating the matter and the assistant professor will also be given a chance to put forth his stand.

Earlier, Sutar was placed under suspension on July 30, a day after a girl student had brought sexual harassment charges against him on July 29.

The victim, a first year undergraduate student of Chemistry department had alleged that Sutar had made physical contact and advances at his residential quarters on the campus.

Later, based on the complaint, a committee headed by dean of School of Physical Sciences and associate professor of Chemistry department Smruti Prava Das and nine other members was formed to investigate the matter.
