Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: In the wake of Ravenshaw VC's resignation over student unrest in the campus, the youth wing of BJP will stage demonstration in front of all universities of the State, protesting against the alleged growing political interference in educational institutions.
The saffron party alleged that BJD is directly interfering in the academic matter of varsity. Some students backed by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) are being influenced by two local MLAs-Pravat Biswal and Debasis Samantray, BJP Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy said.
"The vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw was forced by the BJD leaders to dance according to their tune. Protesting against the 'Gundaraj' of BJD in the varsity campus, BJP youth wing will stage demonstration at all universities across the State", Tripathy said.
On the other hand, BJD said the saffron party is simply politicising the matter. "The VC and other teaching and non-teaching staff of Ravenshaw know me well and my attempts for the development of the university. BJP is simply trying to politicise the issue and will not yeild any fruitful result", BJD MLA Pravat Biswal said.
Notably, the vice-chancellor of the Ravenshaw University Prakash Sarangi had tendered his resignation due to political interference in the academic matter. He, however, rejoined the duty after Chancellor and Governor SC Jamir didn’t accept the resignation and assured him of all administrative suppot.
