Rath Yatra Coordination Committee to meet Today

Puri: The first coordination committee meeting for the upcoming Rath Yatra will be held today here at Sadbhawana hall of the district administration. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) is set to chair the gathering.

Puri collector, superintendent of police, senior district officials and citizens, scribes and the temple servitors would attend the meeting.

The committee will discuss on water supply, drains and sewerage facilities, supply of continuous power, construction of wooden chariots for the deities and all other requisite preparedness for the ensuing Rath Yatra.

However, the servitors of the Puri Jagannath temple attending the meeting is still under wraps as the Shri Jagannath Sevayat Sammilani (SJSS) has urged the servitors to refrain from the Rath Yatra coordination meeting over last year's Niladri Bije issue that defamed the servitors’ society. SJSS has also released posters in this regard urging the boycott.

The famous Puri Rath Yatra festival will begin on June 25.
