Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday sought cooperation from people and other government officials for the smooth conduct of the annual Rath Yatra to be observed at Puri on June 25.

At a special review meeting held at Puri, Patnaik reviewed the status of various projects and works including chariot construction being undertaken for the mega festival of the State.

Official sources said, the progress and arrangements made by several departments including CESU, PHD, PWD, Health and others were reviewed by the Chief Minister.

However, Sachetan Nagarika Manch and other political parties including the Congress and the BJP opposed the CM’s visit to Puri.

Over 20 activists of several outfits were taken into preventive custody while trying to show black flags to the Chief Minister’s carcade.
