Rape survivor’s husband helps her get justice  

Khurdha: Intense as it may seem, a man’s decision to hold the hands of a rape survivor as his better half when she battles life at all stages, certainly is laudable. More so, when the man also chooses to give her justice for the wrong meted out to her.

One such larger-than-life incident has come to fore when one  Krushna Chandra Sahu (name changed) of Khurda district lodged a complaint with police alleging that his wife had been raped by some miscreants for three years. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested an accused today.

As per the complaint, one Anita Sahu (name changed), wife of Krushna, had been raped by the son of her house owner for three years prior to her marriage. The house owner’s son along with his friends took her to a place, disrobed her and clicked her photos. Later, they blackmailed the woman using the photos and raped her constantly for three years.

However, the survivor’s family fixed her marriage with Krushna last year, following which Anita narrated her plight before him. Despite knowing everything, Krushna married her without any hassles. But when miscreants tried to blackmail Anita even after her marriage, Krushna took recourse of law and filed a complaint at the police station.
