Jajpur: After persistent demands by BJP Mahila Morcha to arrest the accused in the incident where a woman was allegedly raped in BJD party office in Dasrathpur, Jajpur SP Charan Singh Mina today said the person involved in the act will be apprehended soon.
The SP, while talking to media said, preliminary reports reveal that the allegation of rape is true.
Mina clarified that police have expedited the investigation and there is no political pressure to suppress the matter. He further stated that the accused will be arrested soon and probe is on to find out if there are more persons involved in the incident.
The BJP Mahila Morcha has however threatened to stage demonstration in the days to come if police fails to arrest and punish the accused.
On January 13, a woman charged a BJD member of raping her inside the BJD party office and lodged a complaint at Mangalpur police station.
As per the complaint, the BJD member, identified as Chandrakant Mohapatra, had asked the woman to come to the party office that night on the pretext of sanctioning her a house under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. However, when she entered the office, the accused asked her to sit next to him on the bed. He then molested and raped her.
Later, police conducted the medical examination of the complainant and recorded her statement under Section 164, CrPC.
