Bhubaneswar: In view of the global WannaCry Ransomware cyber attack, the state IT Department has released an advisory to avoid possibles attack in the state in future.

The IT department has advised all the departments to follow the instructions prescribed  in the advisory to prevent computers from getting hacked.

In the advisory, the department has asked the users to keep updating computers and anti-virus software installed in the system. It has also asked the users to keep backup of data regularly. The user must ensure that backup of all data is kept offline by keeping two files of data and documents on hard disk.

The department further stated that necessary steps have been taken to protect government data system.

“We have already provided a 20-point guideline to all offices. The guideline includes necessary precautions required to be taken to avoid ransomware attack. Report on Berhampur City Hospital being attacked by the WannaCry Ransomware is not confirmed yet. A technical team has been sent for probe,” said IT Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.
