Bhubaneswar: With instances of Ransomware attack being reported from various parts of the state, the BJP state unit today took a jibe at the IT advisor of the state government questioning his absence at such a crucial time.

Speaking to mediapersons here, BJP Spokesperson Sajjan Sharma questioned the absence of state’s IT advisor Sam Pitroda at a time when the number of virus attacks has been growing in the state.

Citing the cyber attack in Berhampur city hospital and Purusottampur CHC, Sharma said “The IT advisor is missing at a time when the Ransomware virus is inflicting systems of various service providing organisations. The State government should refrain from appointing NRIs as advisors.”

In reaction, BJD  Spokesperson Amar Satpathy said the Crime Branch has taken up the matter and the guilty will be arrested soon. Besides, the state IT Department has alerted all the district Collectors regarding the Ransomware threat. The cyber attack is not only happening in Odisha, it is a global phenomenon, he added.
