Hyderabad: Double ton by captain Gobinda Poddar and a century by his team mate Biplab Samantray helped Odisha take a massive first innings lead against Assam on the third day of the Ranji Trophy match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here today.

At draw of stumps, Deepak Behera and Suryakanta Pradhan were batting with 28 and 2 runs respectively.

Beginning its overnight score at 150 for 2, Odisha began the day’s play cautiously. Poddar who remained not out at 81, went on to score his first double century (225) in his Ranji career while Samantaray also scored a century (103).
