Wayanad: Odisha posted a massive win against Maharashtra by an innings and 118 runs on the second day of the four-day Group-B Ranji Trophy match at in match at Krishnagiri Stadium, Wayanad in Kerala today.

After scoring 319 in the first innings on the first day of the match yesterday, Mahatrashtra began their innings with a disastrous note as wickets fell at regular intervals. While four batsmen got out without scoring, two batsmen failed to reach double figure as their innings folded at 94.

For Odisha, Suryakant Pradhan was the highest wicket taker with 4 for 34 while his mates Basant Mohanty and Dipak Behera claimed three wickets each.

Resuming their second innings after being asked to follow on, Maharashtra could not face the Odisha bowlers who ran through their top order. With the team reeling at 43 for 6, VV More and A Sanklecha brought some semblance of respect for their team by taking the score past 100 with some lusty batting. However, their innings was folded at 107 after the dismissal of More who scored 29.

For Odisha, Biplab Samantray was the chief wrecker claiming 4 for 34 followed by Suryakant Pradhan with 3 for 36 while Basant Mohanty and Dipak Behera bagged two and one wicket respectively.

With this massive win, Odisha bagged 7 points.

With a total of22 points from seven matches, Odisha is now is in the third place in Group-B and has the opportunity to enter into the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, congratulating the splendid performance of the Odisha team, the secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Asirbad Behera today announced a cash award of Rs 50,000 each to Basant Mohanty, Dipak Behera, Suryakant Pradhan and Biplab Samantray. Besides he also announced Rs 10,000 each to the remaining players and officials of the team.
