Berhampur: Sadar Police on Tuesday took builder Sai Patnaik, arrested on charges of a land fraud along with former Congress MLA Ramesh Jena, on a three-day remand.

Patnaik was taken from the Berhampur Circle Jail on police remand after the SDJM court accepted an appeal of the Sadar Police. He was arrested on April 8 and forwarded to a local court.

A case was registered at the Sadar police station against Ramesh Jena, his father Arakhita Jena, aides Murali Mohan and Buna Sahu alleging fraudulent acquisition of more than three acres of land near Nimakhandi.

Sources said police might interrogate Patnaik and Ramesh Jena face-to-face as the latter is already on a five-day remand in the land fraud case.
