Rairangpur: Following a complaint, the husband of 21-year-old woman who was allegedly set on fire after being raped by her father-in-law at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj has surrendered before the police today.

According to information, the husband of the woman surrendered soon after his father in law lodged a complaint with police against him and his parents in connection with the case.

A case has been registered against the woman's husband, her father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law under Sections 498 (A), 302, 376, 506 and 201 of IPC.

Earlier on Saturday, the woman succumbed to severe injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jamshedpur. She had sustained nearly 95 percent burns on her body.

Rairangpur police had arrested her father-in-law Ramgopal from Jamshedpur who had allegedly raped and set her on fire by pouring kerosene to eliminate proof of the act.

Sources said though the woman had repeatedly brought sexual assault charges to the notice to her husband, he advised her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
