Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre on Thursday predicted rains at different places in Odisha in next 24 hours under the influence of a depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The met further stated a low pressure formed over the sea has turned into the depression and it lay centred about 210 km south-southwest direction of Gopalpur.

The depression, which is moving in north-northeast direction at 14 km per hour, will weaken after 24 hours. One or two places in Coastal areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Wind speed will be 40-50 km per hour when the depression will cross the Odisha coast, the meteorological centre further forecast.

Besides, the met stated interior parts of the State will experience moderate rainfall due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.

The met also predicted that rain will lash some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur and Sundergarh districts on November 17.

The State received 2.8 mm rainfall on November 15 with Puri recording the highest rainfall of 12.0 mm.
