Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) and the South East Central Railways (SECR) have cancelled nine trains and rescheduled 20 trains between May 3 and 15 as due to repair work of rail tracks and modernisation of several railway stations coming under their zones.

As per ECoR sources, work in connection with the commissioning of third line between Durg and Rasmara stations under the SECR will begin for which four express trains, including the Puri-Durg Express will be cancelled between May 10 and May 15. Similarly, modernisation work of the Dhanmandal section in Khurdha division will also be undertaken. Hence, three passenger trains have been cancelled and eight rescheduled.

Besides, construction work will be carried out on the Rayagada-Vizianagaram route; hence three trains from Palasa to Visakhapatnam will be cancelled.

ECoR PRO JP Mishra said rail passengers might face some inconvenience due to the cancellation and rescheduling of trains. But the maintenance work is being undertaken in view of their safety only.
