Khurdha: Passengers had a tough time for a while as locals resorted to a rail roko on the Khurdha-Bolangir railway line at Bolagarh Road railway station demanding renaming of the station.

Hundreds of villagers under the banner of the Manikagoda Vikas Parisad stopped a passenger train that was about to leave the station. They later sat on a dharna shouting slogans. The agitators demanded that the station be renamed as Manikagoda railway station and warned that they would intensify their stir in coming days if their demand is not met at the earliest.

“We have been demanding renaming of the station several times. We have also written letters to the railway and district officials in this regard, but in vain,” said an agitator.

The protesters later called off the stir after Bolagarh station manager Umesh Mohapatra received a memorandum from them and assured him to take up the matter with the higher authority soon.
