Koraput: A Class 6 student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Koraput has brought allegations against his seniors of threatening and torturing him on the school premises here on Wednesday.

The incident reportedly occurred last night when four students of Class 8 dragged the Class 6 student to a classroom. Finding no one closeby, the students wrapped the junior with a blanket and allegedly thrashed him with iron rods.

The matter came to fore after the student informed his family members yesterday. With severe injuries on his face and hands, the boy was rushed to Koraput Medical college and hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The student alleged, “Four students of Class 8 threatened me and dragged me to the upper floor and switched off all the lights. There two students wrapped me with a thick blanket while two others beat me up with iron rods. I had complained some matters to our teacher against those students and since then they have targeted me.”

His father said, "Since the day I have left him there, he has undergone severe torture. They even threatened to kill my son by suffocating him with a pillow. When we reached here yesterday, we saw he had sustained injuries. We complained to the Warden and Principal but instead of helping us they washed their hands off the issue saying they do not want to indulge in the matter. Either we will get suspended or else transferred at the maximum, they had said."

Meanwhile, a case has been registered after the family lodged a complaint at the Koraput Town Police station.

"The father of the boy has filed a complaint against a few seniors of the school. We have sent the boy for medical examination. A case has also been registered in this regard. Further investigation is on," Khageswar Sahu, IIC of Koraput Town Police station said.

However, the school authorities could not be contacted over the issue.
